Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS)

This summer I will participate in the Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) program. YYGS offers four areas of study: STEM, humanities, social sciences, and a cross-disciplinary track. Each session meets for two weeks and is offered three times throughout the summer.

YYGS participants come from all 50 U.S. states and over 150 countries. To help defray the cost of attendance, YYGS provides over $3 Million USD in need-based financial aid. For the last three summers YYGS operated remotely; this summer YYGS will revert back to being a residential program on Yale’s campus in New Haven, Connecticut.

The Application Process

Applying to YYGS is a valuable experience because it helps students prepare for college applications. In addition to listing awards and activities, the YYGS application requires a combination of short responses and longer essays, as well as a recommendation and official transcript. YYGS offers early action and regular decision application deadlines.

Is YYGS Right for You?

YYGS is a wonderful opportunity for high school sophomores and juniors interested in an immersion global learning experience. While applications are closed for this summer, you can learn about more YYGS here and sign up here to receive notifications about next summer.
